Adam Renshaw (Founder of And Social) was in attendance as the new APPG Outdoor Recreation & Access to Nature report, Outdoors for All: Recommendations for Government on access to Nature was published and launched.
The report, which took in the views of more than 750 organisations and individuals, concludes there is not enough access to nature in England.
With 92% of English countryside still out of bounds to the public, too often people struggle to enjoy outdoor spaces.
Now is the time to deliver lasting change, so that each and every one of us can exercise a right to responsibly enjoy our natural surroundings.”
There are 40 recommendations with 10 headlines.
My highlights are,
1. Expanding access
2. Awareness and education
3. Children spending time outdoors
4. Promoting health and wellbeing
Some startling projections and benefits from this. The most prominent being the forecasted saving to the NHS of £2.1 billion!
Im pleased to be supporting this in any way I can,
As an outdoor retailer with Jim De’Ath and Valley and Peak
As an education platform for retailers with Keith Marshall and Outdoor and social
As the call to government to guarantee children regular time in nature with Nature Premium
And as a member of the Outdoor Industries Association (OIA) with Andrew Denton constantly pushing for this milestone in change for our industry.
