Lena Haushofer, Exhibition Director ISPO Munich and OutDoor by ISPO, thought Outdoor and Social was an excellent chance to get to know UK retailers.
Outdoor and Social is a three-day outdoor learning event which began on Tuesday, March 12, at Newfold Farm, Edale, in the Peak District.
It is an outdoor trade event providing workshops and practical sessions designed to increase knowledge and confidence in outdoor products and skills through experience.
Delivered under the guidance of brands, experts, and professionals it is completely free of charge to all retail staff and aims to help all retailers and their staff deliver better information to the consumer.
Lena, who also presented a talk on ISPO Munich and Outdoor by ISPO to attendees, was impressed by the Outdoor and Social event.
She said: “The event is amazing it’s a really good mixture and helps brands and retailers to get to know and learn from each other. The workshop sessions were excellent and you can learn from really good mountain guides when you’re on the guided hikes. On the hikes, I had really good talks with really nice, like-minded, people, which is great. And that’s all about the outdoor community here.
“The speakers were also good and you learnt a lot from them and they were entertaining. So, in total, I feel this is a perfect outdoor event for retailers and brands.”

ISPO Munich is one of the biggest trade fairs for the sports business. Its sister event, Outdoor by ISPO is one of the largest global platforms for the outdoor community. Both events are held in the Trade Fair Center Messe München.
Lena was at Outdoor and Social on a fact-finding mission. She said: “Our main goal is to understand and get to know the UK retailers and brands. In these times it’s really hard to get retailers back to our trade shows because of time and money.
“That’s why we really want to understand what the business is right now for the UK retailers? What are the events they’re going to and what’s of interest to them?
“Are they more interested in new products or the educational part? So that way we can adapt our Outdoor by ISPO trade show. Do we help the retailers to come to Germany and to maybe cover travel costs or to have a VIP retailer event? Do we conduct retail tours through Munich? So, the main goal is to get to know the UK retailers.”
